Unfinished Planning - Introduction

Okay. So here goes...

Setting up this space so I can write about everything Tanzania (if you're at all interested!)

Progress so far:

Vaccinations: 4/6
Visa: Once flights are booked.
Passport: Finally renewed!
Flights Booked: Ummm - No (!!!), but I can give you rough dates:

I'm going from the 26th February till the 6/7th May 2009

Actually, I have an awful lot left to do, like getting my visa and getting all the things I need. Scary but I'm uberly looking forward to it all. What an experience - it still hasn't hit me.

So I guess this will be my introduction to the whole thing. I should probably mention why I'm actually going, huh? Well we've made contact with a friend my Granny had out there whilst my Dad's family lived out in Africa. She lives in Dar es Salaam and works with an amazing number of different projects. One of the most prominent she's mentioned is the help she offers to a group of disabled girls, schooling and mentoring them alongside a few other volunteers. It'll be this that I'll be helping with (along with anything else that needs doing!) My Dad and I are also organising a lot of stuff to take out there too, like picture books, some atlases (VERY important as she informs me that a lot of the children they work with still believe the world to be flat!) and some schooling equipment.

That's the jist for you anyway. I'll probably post again when this has all been finalised. Then hopefully as much as I can while I'm out there.
